Who was your inspiration in your path to leadership? My mother and father inspire greatness in every way. They always told me whatever I put my mind to I can achieve. They inspire me to be the best I can be 5. Do you believe leaders are born or made? Which one are you? Both born and made. Some just have DNA natural leadership instincts. Some work hard to be leaders. My leadership is a combination of both 6. Why did you choose to take the leadership role in the Jewish community? I am passionate about the Jewish Community and was taught that we can only depend on ourselves and that all of us have a responsibility for one another. Thus I have chosen to focus my time philanthropy and leadership on Jewish causes. 7. Do your leadership styles in the corporation differ from in the federation? My style of leadership is similar with some differences. The styles are the same in that I listen to my employees as I listen to people at federation. Input feedback and other ideas are important but most importantly getting buy in from your team is valuable to achieving results. Some differences would be the fact that as a leader in the corporate world the decisions are mine to make solely but at federation its more collaborative therfore the style of leadership is a bit different but equally powerful. 8. What advice would you give to inspiring leaders? Dream big, set goals and do not waiver. Hard work drive determination are critical to successful leadership. I thought you did a great job interviewing Mrs. Horwitz Molly. Your questions gave very insightful answers from Mrs. Horwitz so that I could see what she believes a leader is. I think its also interesting that she is so involved in the Jewish Community. Again great blog post and keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteFANTASTIC! I like how you took what we disscused in class and applied it to your interview. Like Kouzes and Posner, Horowitz believes leadership qualities include inspiring and honesty. I wonder if Horowitz believes leaders must have good morals or not.
ReplyDeleteThe questions you asked Angela Horowitz help me understand leader characteristics, and traits. It seems she has power in the Jewish community and wants only the best for it. She says that motivation and inspiration are attributes that will help you become a succesful leader. According to the leader you interviewed, motivation and honesty are two of the most important traits. These traits are two of many that will help a leader become successful.
ReplyDeleteThe questions that you directed to Angela Horowitz are very good questions to ask a leader. But, to better understand what Angela's aspect of being a leader should be into a little more detail. But I think Angela was a perfect example of a leader.
ReplyDeleteMolly, I thought you did a fantastic job. I thought the questions were super insightful, especially when you asked her about what advice she would give to future leaders. I could not agree more with her and what she feels are the traits that a leader should have. I really enjoyed her quote "Dream big, set goals, and do not waiver." Overall, super duper job Molly. Keep up the good work!!!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteHey there Molly, I also think you did a great job. Your questions were very direct and the answers stayed on topic so props to both you and Angela Horowitz. I also loved her saying, "Dream big, set goals, and do not waiver," like David.
ReplyDeleteMolly, you have run a series of good posts together here over the last several weeks. Your personal best post remains your strongest in my eyes -- you wrote it in your voice, connected the anecdote back to the class topics, and presented a complete thought. I liked your interview summation above. As your classmates have notes, your aunt indeed touched on many points we have discussed in class. My sole critique would be to have placed this in a narrative, rather than Q & A format so that you could draw more explicit connections between her responses and our classroom content.
ReplyDeleteYou are short one post: "how has your view of leadership changed?" Let's try to get that one in this week. Thanks!
